Characteristic of Living Growth

Characteristic of Living Growth - Living Things usually do not remain the same in size. A small puppy  grows in to a dog. Small seedlings grow into plants. The growth of living things is different from the growth of non- living thins such as a crystal or a heap of sand. The growth in living organisms is internal growth or we can say that occurs within the organism by the division of cells. In single celled organisms, growth occurs only in the size of the cell.In non - living things, growth occurs due to addition of material from the outside. This type of growth is called as external growth.

Animals stop growing after they reached certain size and age, whereas plants continue to grow through out their life.
